Combining Tri-Clamp components correctly

Clamps

Clamps and clamping rings join the matching ferrules with the selected gasket. Special designs and any required component certificates are agreed for your application.

Ferrules

Tri-Clamp ferrules and tank ferrules in stainless steel: select the connection dimensions, the material and the surface finish your design requires.

Blank caps

Blank caps close a clamp connection. They are selected by flange diameter, along with the material and surface finish used for the other Tri-Clamp components.

Gaskets

EPDM, silicone, FKM and PTFE are part of the material range. Resistance and the required certificates are matched to medium, temperature and cleaning.

Tri-Clamp to DIN 32676: series and connection dimensions

The clamp components in the Weiss configurator are assigned to DIN 32676. The corresponding surface finishes are described in DIN 11866.

Compare the dimension series and the actual connection dimensions. Similar nominal sizes do not automatically mean matching ferrules, gaskets and clamps.

Please state any additional standard required or deviating dimensions in full in your inquiry. The assignment is verified for the specific design.

Selecting materials and surface finishes

The stainless steel components shown are offered in 1.4404 and 1.4435. The choice depends on component and application.

H4 denotes a mechanically polished surface, H4o an electropolished one. Required roughness values and further certificates belong in your specification.

Gasket materials and application-related certificates

The gasket range covers EPDM, silicone/VMQ, FKM, PTFE and PTFE/FKM. Medium, temperature, pressure and cleaning concept are decisive.

Corresponding certificates such as FDA and/or USP Class VI are available for all materials and are standard. Please ask for any further certificates in your inquiry.

Specific suitability and the scope of documentation are agreed for the selected component.

Weiss Apparatebau holds a certificate to AD 2000 HP0 and DIN EN ISO 3834-2 for the stated scope of fabrication.

Material documentation and testing are agreed for your component and the agreed scope of order.

  • Material and inspection certificates: matching the agreed scope of order.

Frequently asked questions about Tri-Clamp connections

Components, materials and certificates for your technical selection.

A connection consists of matching ferrules, a gasket and a clamp. In the configurator you can select complete connections or individual components. Connection dimensions and design must match.

In the Weiss configurator the clamp components are assigned to DIN 32676. Please add the dimension series and connection dimensions. State any special standards or deviating specifications explicitly in your inquiry.

The stainless steel components shown are offered in 1.4404 and 1.4435. Which combination suits your application depends among other things on medium, cleaning and the agreed scope of documentation.

Connection size, medium, temperature and cleaning are decisive. The configurator covers EPDM, silicone, FKM and PTFE among others. Material resistance and certificates are agreed for the specific design.

State the certificates you require in your inquiry. Documentation and traceability are agreed according to component and agreed scope of supply. Not every design automatically includes every certificate.

Add drawing, dimensions, material and quantity to your technical inquiry. Custom designs are reviewed project by project for feasibility and availability.

Alongside the dimension series, please state the actual connection dimensions. Similar nominal sizes are not sufficient for the assignment. For existing piping, the tube outside diameter, the wall thickness and your technical specification help.

Tri-Clamp connections form a detachable joint made up of matching ferrules, gasket and clamp. Weld ends are permanently integrated into the piping. Please state the type of connection you need explicitly in your technical inquiry.
